1-Passport services are given on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Passport service is not given on Wednesdays.
2-Applications are accepted between 0930 hours and 1200 hours. Passports are delivered between 1600 hours and 1700 hours (4 PM and 5 PM).

4-Passport application is made in two steps. In the first step the application is entered on line through URL https://passport.gov.in/nri/OnlineRegistration.jsp?pocode=PRTL. (Upon clicking this link, if you see a security certificate warning, please ignore the warning and continue ahead.) In the second step, take a print of the on line application, paste photograph, sign on the first (beside the photograph), third and the fourth pages. Complete the remaining columns by answering all other columns in writing. Enclose required documents and submit it within 30 days in the Embassy along with the prescribed fee. If the application is entered online before 5 PM, it can be submitted the next day or later (within 30 days). However, if the application is entered online after 5 PM, it can be submitted NEXT-to-NEXT day or later (within 30 days).
All applications for any passport service, whether for a new passport, re-issue of passport, change of name, appearance etc. will be made through this on line link only.
5-The Embassy does NOT follow appointment system for passport services. Please ignore the appointments given by the passport services application system. The applicants should visit the Embassy on working days, except on Wednesdays, between 0930 hours and 1200 hours.
6-Please note: Birth registration of a child born to Indian parents should be done in the Embassy within one year of the birth, otherwise there will be delay in issuing a passport to the child. To apply for birth registration click on menu 'Issuance of Certificates'.
7-Please note: If an Indian citizen acquires the citizenship of a foreign country, he/she must renounce the Indian citizenship and surrender the Indian passport to the Embassy within 3 years. No travel should be done on the Indian passport, after 3 months of acquiring foreign citizenship. Violation of this rule invites financial penalties.
