Panel discussion on Transforming India through Peoples Empowerment on September 25, 2017

The Embassy of India in Lisbon and the Center for Indian Studies of Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (FLUL) are pleased to invite you to attend a panel discussion on "Transforming India through People's Empowerment" on September 25, 2017 at 18H, at the Anfiteatro IV, Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (FLUL).

The event celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, an Indian humanist known for his deliberations on Antyodaya - a concept which in the current context signifies poverty alleviation and integrating humanism. The debate will address efforts underway in India to empower Indians through various initiatives to eliminate poverty. It will focus on the change in approach from giving out assistance to empowering people economically and socially, especially the underprivileged sections and women, through various schemes aimed at creating employment. At India's initiative, poverty elimination has been included as one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
